Here’s a little selfie in good pre-snowstorm lighting from a couple weeks ago, just in case you’ve ended up here without really knowing me. In the photo I’m wearing the “Gaza” kufiya from Hirbawi. I love it so much, and feel so lucky to have it.
I’m working on a couple book reviews right now, which I’ll talk about more when I can. I’m also preparing to share a poem next week at the NL Historical Society monthly meeting; I’ll be part of a round-table of authors discussing the letters written to Joey Smallwood in the years just before and just after Newfoundland’s confederation with Canada. The event details for that are here: Confederation Correspondents: Letters to Joey Smallwood 1948-1951. You can attend in person or virtually if you’re interested! I haven’t had the chance to meet a lot of the other contributors, so I’m really looking forward to it.
I’m also working on getting other people’s poems ready for the next issue of Janus Unbound, which should be out in June (if everything goes according to plan, which, JU being a university publication, it seldom does). I’m getting a little braver about reaching out to poets I don’t know. It doesn’t always work, but sometimes I’m pleasantly surprised.
