Andreae's old undergraduate copy of The Complete Poems of Emily Dickinson, edited by Thomas H. Johnson. The book rests on Andreae's lifted hand. It is a 770 page paperback with a dark blue cover; the spine text is beige and white. The book -- obviously well thumbed -- is held at such an angle that the lamplight highlights the many cracks along its spine.
