I’ve spent much of the day listening to Robert Creeley’s delightful talks on Emily Dickinson. Yesterday I listened to Adrienne Rich’s fantastic Dickinson lecture. Starting to wonder if anyone other than poets should be allowed to write on or talk about Dickinson.
Critics and biographers: Clearly, the evidence strongly confirms that Dickinson was a haunted, depressed, oppressed, defective, deviant, deficient, broken-hearted, delusional, babbling weirdo.
Poets: Meh… I’ve seen weirder.
